Fisher’s Recycling Blog
At Fisher’s, we understand that our customers are concerned with the full lifecycle of technology including recycling. That’s why our policies, methods, and processes all support a Green Initiative. Fisher’s partners with state-of-the art recycling facilities that provide environmentally sound disposal of obsolete or inoperative equipment.
E-waste, electrical or electronic equipment, is the fastest growing segment of the U.S. waste stream – increasing by 8% each year – that’s why it’s extremely important to keep copiers out of our landfills. As business partners we can work together and make a difference with copier recycling to have a positive impact on our environment.
Tube-shaped toner cartridges are made of recyclable plastic that can be placed in many city-sponsored recycling bins.
Toner cartridges (HP and Ricoh) on occasion come with a UPS label to return used cartridges to a recycling center.
If not, please refer to the Konica "Clean Planet Program" listed below.

In this case, the saying: “a gift is not always a gift” usually rings true. Old machines are more likely to breakdown so whoever ends up with the old machine will not have a great experience and might even end up spending more on replacement parts, maintenance, and toner.
Businesses frequently ask it there is a trade-in deal for copiers. Some Copier dealers will even run specials to give businesses a $500 credit to trade-in their machine. The truth though, most copier dealers will pack that trade-in amount into your contract, so you’ll end up paying that trade-in buyout amount one way or another.
Reach out to Fisher’s and we will schedule a pick-up of the old device, pick the device up, and recycle the equipment so customers do not have to worry about it. This is also environment conscious decision. It’s important to keep copiers out of our landfills, so Fisher’s partners with state-of-the art recycling facilities that provide environmentally sound disposal of obsolete or inoperative equipment.
For any device Fisher's picks up for disposal, recycle, or lease return, a technician will perform a secure hard drive wipe on the copier. The technician accesses the data through the management mode which the system administrator must authenticate. This function erases all user information on the hard drive of the machine (e.g., contact information, advance box client data, network settings, and image data). This process also deletes the FAT (file allocation table) and overwrites the target HDD data area with zeros one time. Once our technician confirms all the data has been removed, the device is then prepared for disposal.
As business partners we can work together and make a difference. Copier + consumable recycling can have a positive impact on our environment.
